All NPCs and What They Do
Six of the town NPCs in Iron Soul: Dungeon own a system between them, and knowing which one is which saves a lot of walking. Gray stands near the Forge and opens the skill tree, hands out the main quest chain, and is the gate on your second weapon slot. Cinder works beside the Forge and eventually gives you an Ice Dragon's Egg. Quill runs the building marked Merchant and turns anything you are not wearing into Gold. Milo works inside the Enchant building to Gray's side of town, on Quill's left, and handles enchanting, rune fusing and unenchanting. Ali runs the pet stall by the Dragon's Grave entrance and is the only place to hatch, enhance, ascend or send pets on expeditions. Torgar runs the Grocery and accepts Gold, Bond Currency and Robux. Each has a page below.
The seventh NPC, and why he has no page
One community wiki lists a seventh character, Sam, standing in the cave, and states plainly that he currently serves no purpose in progression. That is the entire published record of him: a location and a negative. There is no dialogue, no service, no quest and no item attached, so there is nothing to write a page about that would not be padding. The second source we checked, an independent database of the same six other NPCs, does not list him at all. If a later update gives him a function, he gets a page then; today the honest version is this paragraph.
Gray or Grey, and how the spelling was settled
The tutorial NPC is spelled both ways across the sites that cover this game. The community wiki that carries the NPC roster writes Gray throughout, the official wiki's Starless Forest guide writes about talking to Gray, and the official weapon template contains an item called Gray's Sword. Two of the third-party guide sites write Grey. The weapon name is the deciding evidence, because it is game data rather than an editor's spelling, so every page on this site uses Gray. The alternative spelling is worth knowing anyway, since half the search results you will find use it.
