Cinder is the blacksmith character, standing beside the Forge in the main town, and his greeting line is the most memorable in the game: I'm old, but the hearth is not. Two independent sources place him at the forge area and describe him as handling blacksmithing and weapon forging. He also has one documented quest outcome: he eventually gives you an Ice Dragon's Egg, which you take to Ali at the pet stall to hatch. Because his location is the forge, the practical content of a Cinder visit is the forge itself, and that is unusually well documented - the official wiki publishes the exact ore cost and success chance for all nine forgeable item types.
What the forge screen is telling you
Four concepts govern the result and the official page defines each. Multiplier indicates the base stats of the item and rises with ore level, so higher is better, and Hell mode ore generally carries a higher multiplier than its tier-mates. Mini-game performance is the part you control, and 100% is the target. Crafting pools appear on the right of the forge screen and determine the range of possible outputs, with the strongest item of a tier shown at the bottom right and the weakest at the top left. Rarity usually does not change base stats but changes usefulness through sub-stats. Every ordinary pool has one special item with a higher level and better base stats than the rest; Hell mode equipment has no such exception.
The egg, and what is not published about it
The one story beat attached to Cinder is that he eventually gives you an Ice Dragon's Egg, and the instruction is to take it to Ali. What is not published is when: no source states which quest step, character level or dungeon clear triggers it. Nor is it published whether the egg is guaranteed to every player or tied to a particular route. The pet it produces is presumably the Icy Dragonet, which is the official name of the ice dragon pet, though the sources name the egg and the pet separately without connecting them explicitly. A third source separately names an Ice Dragon Egg and a Divine Dragon Egg as egg types, which is consistent but not confirmation.
Two named forge recipes worth knowing
The official forging page recommends specific ore pairings rather than only single-ore attempts. Witherite with Eye of Evil at two to one is described as slightly stronger than pure witherite and suited to late progression - though note that Eye of Evil does not exist in the official ore table, where the level 52 Hell ore is called Eye of Hatred. Sunflare with Flourite at one to two produces mythic equipment on par with Frozen Valley and Tier 2. Earthmaw with Voidstar at two to one stretches a limited ore supply. Earthmaw with Aquamarine at two to one opens what the page calls a dangerous large loot pool but can produce early mythic Tier 3 gear.
Step-by-Step
- Bring the right amount of ore before you start. A light weapon or light helmet costs 3 ore, a staff or light breastplate costs 10, a heavy helmet costs 15, a heavy weapon 16, gauntlets and bows 18 each, and a heavy breastplate 22.
- Check the output chance, which is not always 100%. Light weapons, light helmets, heavy weapons and heavy breastplates come out as intended every time; staffs, light breastplates and heavy helmets are 80%.
- Bring a relic if you are forging gauntlets or a bow. Those two are 5% without a relic, 19% with a common relic and 52% with a legendary one - by far the widest spread in the game.
- Forge in a private server. The forging mini-game materially affects the result, 100% performance gives the best output, and other players' equipment effects interfere with reading it.
- Do not mix ore types casually. Mixing affects the crafting pool and makes results less predictable, and depending on tier the finished item can come out far weaker than the displayed multiplier suggests.
- For a mythic result, make at least half the ore in the attempt mythic. That is the published rule, and it is why hoarding mythic ore beats spending it as it drops.

The three-way split on gauntlets and bows is with no relic, a common relic and a legendary relic. Both third-party forge guides we checked omit these two rows entirely.
Tips & Notes
- A second source records the same seven ordinary figures and cites the official forging page at a revision dated 3 September 2026, which is a useful independent check on the numbers above.
- Cinder is next to the Forge and Gray is also near the Forge - the two are different characters with different functions, and only Gray opens the skill tree.
- Rarity does not usually change base stats, so a rare item with the right sub-stats can beat a mythic one with the wrong ones.
