Gauntlets: 18 Ores, 5% Without Relic
What this page helps you decide: how much ore to set aside before you attempt a gauntlet, and whether to farm a relic first.
The gauntlet recipe is the most expensive weapon in the game to obtain and the only one whose success chance is not a fixed number. Eighteen ore per attempt, and a chance that starts at 5 percent with no relic, rises to 19 percent with a common relic and reaches 52 percent with a legendary one. That row exists on exactly one of the five sources we read that publish forge costs. The other four list seven equipment recipes and stop before the gauntlet and bow rows, which is why almost nothing written about this game connects relics to weapon access. We have kept the class page separate from the fist weapon list because the sources use the two names inconsistently, and merging them silently would hide a real disagreement rather than resolve it.

The arithmetic behind the relic tiers
Because the ore cost per attempt is fixed at eighteen, expected total ore is just eighteen divided by the success chance. No relic gives 18 divided by 0.05, which is 360. A common relic gives 18 divided by 0.19, about 95. A legendary relic gives 18 divided by 0.52, about 35. Put another way, the legendary relic removes roughly 90 percent of the expected cost and the common relic removes roughly 74 percent. Compare that with the most expensive ordinary recipe in the game, the heavy breastplate at 22 ore and a stated 100 percent, and the point becomes clear: a relic-free gauntlet attempt is not slightly worse value, it is more than sixteen times the ore of the priciest guaranteed recipe.
Why one row survives on one wiki only
The forge page that carries the gauntlet and bow rows was last edited in mid July. The other wiki's forge page was edited far more recently and still lists only seven recipes. Two guide sites reproduce the same seven. That pattern is worth understanding because it recurs across this game's coverage: a newer page is not automatically a more complete one, and here the older page is the only one that documents a mechanic linking two systems. The relic-to-forge connection is not hidden or obscure, it simply sits in a row that four out of five transcriptions dropped, and once dropped nobody downstream had any reason to look for it.
What the gauntlet class actually contains
This is the part the sources genuinely disagree on. The weapon data template has no gauntlet class tag at all; it has a fist tag with four weapons, all at 13 base attack. The second wiki lists gauntlets as a class and says exactly one gauntlet weapon exists in the game. Both statements cannot be true, and neither can be checked without opening the game. Our working assumption is that fist and gauntlet name the same class, which is supported by the crit table and the monk scroll family, and we list the four known weapons on the fist page rather than duplicating them here. If the second wiki is right and there is a single distinct gauntlet, it is not named anywhere we could find.
Step-by-Step
- Work out your ore budget from the relic you hold, not from the eighteen. With no relic the expected spend is 360 ore, with a common relic about 95 and with a legendary relic about 35.
- Farm the Endless Tower first if you have no relic. It is the only documented source, and relics are described there as a very low chance drop alongside scrolls.
- Use a single ore type when you attempt it. The forge accepts up to four different ores, but mixing changes the output pool and makes an already expensive attempt less predictable.
- Target 65 to 90 percent crit chance, the band the sub-stats page gives for gauntlets, which is the same as for light weapons and lower than for heavies and bows.
- Plan for the monk scroll family. Monk Scroll: Stand is the single monk scroll in the game, and like all fourteen scrolls its effect is unpublished.
Data Tables
| Relic carried | Stated chance | Expected attempts | Expected ore | Against a heavy weapon |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| None | 5% | 20.0 | 360 | 22.5 times the ore |
| Common relic | 19% | 5.3 | 95 | 5.9 times the ore |
| Legendary relic | 52% | 1.9 | 35 | 2.2 times the ore |
Chances from the forge page, last edited 2026-07-19. Expected attempts, expected ore and the comparison against a heavy weapon at 16 ore are our arithmetic.
| Recipe row | Sources carrying it | Consequence |
|---|---|---|
| The seven ordinary recipes | Four of four we checked | Widely republished and consistent |
| Gauntlets, 18 ore, relic gated | One of four | Relic connection missing from most guides |
| Bow, 18 ore, relic gated | One of four | Same, for the only bow in the game |
Counted across the two wiki forge pages and two third-party forge guides. The two highlighted rows are the ones that link relics to weapon access.
FAQ
How much ore does a gauntlet really cost?
Eighteen per attempt, but the number you should budget is the expected total: about 360 ore with no relic, about 95 with a common relic and about 35 with a legendary one.
Where do the relics come from?
The Endless Tower is the only documented source. Relics are listed there as a very low chance drop, alongside scrolls, with season tickets as the guaranteed reward and ore drops varying.
Is a gauntlet the same thing as a fist weapon?
The evidence points that way. The forge table and crit table both say gauntlet, the weapon roster says fist, and the scroll list has a monk family. The one source that disagrees says only a single gauntlet weapon exists, against four fist entries in the data.
