What this page helps you decide: whether your character is ready for Tier 2 yet, and which ore combination to forge next once you are inside it.

Frozen Valley is the Tier 2 world and the longest stretch in the game so far: the official guide estimates approximately up to eight hours for it, and frames the goal as building a character capable of entering Oathlost Castle rather than simply clearing the maps. It also has the only hard entry requirement anyone publishes for a main world - level 15, 1,200 maximum health and a light weapon forged from pure painstone, or at least one or two of that ore in hand. Two elites and two bosses live here, all of them cold variants of things you have already met. The valuable part of this page is the forge order, because the official guide publishes an exact sequence of ore pairings for this tier and no competing site carries it.

The two elites are the reason to bring health

The Yeti and the Cannon Yeti travel together at the same speed and neither can be stunned. The Yeti is rated medium danger generally but extremely dangerous inside this specific world, has high to extraordinary health, no ranged attack, and is a problem mainly for characters with no movement speed bonus. The Cannon Yeti is rated outright deadly: standing still against it produces lethal damage, and closing to point-blank range while it is loading forces it into a jump, which pins it if your skill can reach outside the circular indicator. The counter-intuitive part is that hugging it while it uses a basic attack hits you twice, once for the projectile and once for the initial explosion, so close range is a tool rather than a safe place.

The two bosses, and why fights run long

The Ice Golem and the Ice Dragon are the cold variants of the Starless Forest bosses. The dragon variants share an identical moveset, so anything you learned about the Dragon of Evil transfers directly. The golem does gain one move here: Walls, where it raises both arms and generates five pillars, is described as unique to the ice variant. The official guide is blunt about the consequence of arriving under-geared - boss fights can run up to six minutes if your damage is insufficient. That is the practical test of whether you entered too early, and it is a better signal than any power number: if a boss takes six minutes, go back and finish the forge order rather than pushing difficulty.

What the competing guides have on this map

Almost nothing, which is worth knowing if you are searching around. One of the three third-party sites runs a page for Frozen Valley that lists tier, enemies, bosses and drops as Not documented across the board. Another gives only the entry point as the Dungeon menu. Neither Fandom wiki publishes drop percentages for it. So the practical information available anywhere for this tier is the official guide's entry requirement, its forge order, its elite and boss names, and the six-minute warning - all of which is on this page, and none of which includes a drop rate.

Step-by-Step

  1. Check the three entry numbers before queueing: level 15, 1,200 maximum health, and a pure painstone light weapon or the ore for one. Arriving short does not lock you out, but it turns an eight-hour tier into a longer one.
  2. First job inside the tier is a hat, not a weapon. Find the easiest mythic ore you can farm here and forge light helmets repeatedly until one rolls Attack Bonus together with Skill Damage - the official guide calls that your starter hat.
  3. Do not rush a cross-tier weapon before this world's Penitent difficulty. Tier 2 ore weapons come out level with or only slightly stronger than your Tier 1 weapon in base terms, so the helmet gives you more.
  4. Work through the published weapon forge order: pure verdanite light weapon, then hexbane with bloodshard at any ratio as a secondary, then pure painstone light weapon, then sunflare with flourite at one to two, then pure torbernite, then voidstar with earthmaw at one to two.
  5. Forge a heavy chest piece alongside it in this order: hexbane with bloodshard at any ratio, sunflare with flourite at one to one, then voidstar with earthmaw at one to two. Health matters more here than anywhere earlier.
  6. Hold blessing at +3 until the last two ore options in that sequence, and accept diminishing returns when blessing armour at all. Painstone armour is hard to assemble, but a lucky roll on it can last all the way into Oathlost Castle.

Tips & Notes

  • Any rune type works through this tier, but Corrode is specifically worth considering as you approach Tier 3, because it raises all damage the target takes rather than adding its own damage over time.
  • Health Bonus is the sub-stat to prioritise here, and the official guidance caps it at two rolls - past that you are giving up damage for survivability you may not need.
  • The entry requirement lists maximum health rather than a power figure on purpose. Health is the stat the tier actually tests, and it is the one you can read directly off your character sheet.

FAQ

What do I need to enter Frozen Valley?

Level 15, 1,200 maximum health and a light weapon forged from pure painstone, or one to two painstone ore in hand to make one. All three numbers come from the official Frozen Valley guide.

How long does Frozen Valley take?

Approximately up to eight hours according to the official guide, which is the longest published estimate for any tier. The aim of that time is a character ready for Oathlost Castle rather than a clear.

Why are my Frozen Valley boss fights taking so long?

Because your damage is short. The official guide notes fights can stretch to six minutes when damage is insufficient, which is the signal to go back through the forge order rather than to push a higher difficulty.
