Tartarus is the newest named dungeon in this game's documentation and the least evidenced. It arrived with Update 10.5 on 30 July 2026 as part of the New Island route, bringing Hell Mode along with two new equipment families, Hell weapons and Hell armour, forged from a family of Hell ores. Getting there means reaching character level 28, which unlocks the teleport to Shattered Place. Everything in the preceding two sentences comes from a single site, across two of its pages, and Tartarus appears on neither of the two Fandom wikis - not in the official wiki's 23-page index and not in the community wiki's 30 pages. What is much better documented is the ore itself, which the official ore table lists in full, and that is the part of this page you can rely on.
The Hell ore family, which is the documented part
Seven ores carry the Hell rarity in the official ore table, and they are the closest thing to hard data attached to this dungeon. Painstone at level 21 with a 13 times multiplier is the one most players meet first, because it drops from Torment Hell mode in Starless Forest and forges the light weapon that carries Frozen Valley. Torbernite at level 28 sits exactly at the Shattered Place unlock level. Witherite at 43 appears in one of the official forging page's recommended recipes, paired with a secondary at two to one. The chain continues through Eye of Hatred at 52, Rotten Lotus at 66 and Frozanite at 72 to Lionite at level 90, which is the highest-level ore in the game and sells for 260 Gold. That ore ceiling of 90 sits below the Season III character cap of 110.
Why this page is short on Tartarus itself
Because the sourcing is thin and pretending otherwise would be worse. One site carries Tartarus across two pages, and both were updated on 22 August 2026; its dungeon index repeats the same Update 10.5 summary. That is one publisher, not two, so nothing here is cross-verified. Neither Fandom wiki has a page for it at all, which is unusual - the community wiki covers caves and seasons in detail, and the official wiki documents ore and forging thoroughly. The most likely explanation is timing: the official wiki froze on 3 August 2026 and Tartarus arrived on 30 July, so it landed in a four-day window before the wiki stopped moving. That is an explanation, not a confirmation.
What the New Island route contains around it
Tartarus is one stop on a route rather than a standalone dungeon. Update 10.4 added the route itself and Shattered Place as its destination, with Shattered Land acting as the hub. Update 10.5 made Shattered Land the only place the Scythe can be forged. Update 10.6, on 5 August 2026, added three Fist weapons there and completed the Fist skill tree, after which one log describes Fist as the top-tier metagame choice. Season III added further Scythes and three more Season 3 Fist weapons to the same hub. The Crystal Cave is also grouped under this route by the site that documents it, with entry cost, gate and drops all recorded as unverified.
Step-by-Step
- Reach level 28 first. That is the published unlock for the Shattered Place teleport, which is the route to the New Island content that Tartarus belongs to.
- Do not plan around a power requirement. The one site that documents Tartarus records its power gate as not cross-verified, which means nobody has published a number for it.
- Understand what Hell ore does before you farm it. The official forging page states that Hell mode ore generally carries a higher multiplier, and multiplier is the indicator of an item's base stats, so Hell variants of equipment tend to be stronger.
- Know the trade-off as well: every ordinary crafting pool contains one special item with a higher level and better base stats, and Hell mode equipment has no such exception, because Hell ore keeps the pool broadly unchanged within a tier.
- Aim at the Hell ore your level can actually use. The family runs from Painstone at level 21 through to Lionite at level 90, and the official advice is to hold high-tier ore until your character level is well past the ore's own level.
- Treat Hell weapon and armour lists as unwritten. No source publishes the individual Hell items, their stats or their drop rates, and the official weapon list of 113 names predates this content.

Tips & Notes
- The official forging page carries its own correction about this family, warning that its recipe list might imply Witherite and Rotten Lotus are comparable when their levels are far apart - a 34 times multiplier against 66 times.
- Watch the name when cross-referencing: the forging page recommends an ore called Eye of Evil which does not exist in the ore table, where the level 52 Hell ore is called Eye of Hatred.
- Hell mode variants exist for every difficulty of the main worlds too, so Hell ore is not exclusive to this route - Torment Hell mode in Starless Forest is where most players first see painstone.
