What this page helps you decide: Whether to stop rolling once Undead appears, given it is the first race on the table to carry a cooldown line the official guidance says you should never go without.

Undead occupies the whole Uncommon band by itself at a published 13.00%, sitting fourth of 13 by draw rate and forming the natural break between the three commons and everything rarer. It carries three bonus lines where the commons carry one or two: Skill Damage 10%, 15%, 20%, Cooldown Reduction 8%, 12%, 16% and Health Bonus 10%, 15%, 20%. At 13.00% the draw averages 7.7 rerolls, even odds arrive on the fifth roll, and 90% confidence takes 17. The three star ceiling averages 23 rerolls in total. The cooldown line is the one that matters most, because the official sub-stats page singles out Cooldown Reduction as the one stat it strongly recommends you carry at least one of.

All three Undead lines, star by star

Skill Damage runs 10%, 15%, 20%. Cooldown Reduction runs 8%, 12%, 16%. Health Bonus runs 10%, 15%, 20%. All three obey the rule that holds across every one of the 52 bonus lines on the official table: two stars is one and a half times the base rounded down, three stars is exactly double. The cooldown line is the only one on Undead that starts on a value other than 10, and 8 is the smallest starting cooldown figure any race gives. The reason it still matters is the official guidance on that stat: Cooldown Reduction is rated rare, is described as more common on weapons than armour, and late gear is documented as rolling up to 24% on a single piece. A three star Undead delivers two thirds of one late-game roll for free.

Why the cooldown line beats the other two

The official sub-stats page ranks its own recommendations, and cooldown is the only entry it marks as strongly recommended rather than capped. Health Bonus is capped at two lines and Skill Damage at four, meaning both are useful up to a limit. Cooldown has no stated ceiling and an explicit floor. The combat guidance reinforces it from the other direction: it tells you to run a full skill cycle, meaning every skill except the ultimate in sequence, then swap weapons, and to use ultimates freely because a lower damage character charges them more often. Both of those loops run faster with cooldown reduction, which is why an 8% line at one star on an Uncommon race is worth more than the number suggests.

Where Undead sits among the 13 races

Undead is fourth by draw rate and alone in its rarity band. It is 1.9 times rarer than Human and Orc, half as common again as it is against Dragonkin at 6.00%, and 65 times more common than any 0.20% mythical. It is the first race on the table with three bonus lines, and the first to cover damage, survivability and cooldown at once. One third-party tier list places Undead in its middle tier alongside the two damage commons, and the same list labels Undead as Rare when the official template says Uncommon, part of a wider pattern where that site shifts several rarity labels by one band.

Step-by-Step

  1. Treat 13.00% as reachable rather than rare. Five rerolls give you an even chance and 17 make failure unlikely, which fits inside a single Battle Pass block of 28.
  2. Value the cooldown line first. The official sub-stats page strongly recommends at least one Cooldown Reduction line and notes that at 100% reduction a 30 second skill comes back in 15.
  3. Read Skill Damage as narrow but clean: it raises skill damage only, has its own panel entry, and the official recommendation is no more than four such lines on gear.
  4. Push to three stars only if you intend to stay. Twenty-three rerolls on average is three times the single-draw cost, and at 13.00% a different race will replace it on 87 rolls in 100 unless the slot is locked.

Tips & Notes

  • Undead is the cheapest race that touches all three of damage, survivability and cooldown, at 7.7 rerolls on average.
  • No official weapon pairing exists for any race. Undead has no critical lines, so the published per-weapon critical rate bands do not constrain it.

FAQ

How rare is the Undead race in Iron Soul: Dungeon?

13.00% per reroll, the only Uncommon on the table. That averages 7.7 rerolls, with even odds by the fifth and 90% confidence by the seventeenth.

What does Undead give at three stars?

Skill Damage 20%, Cooldown Reduction 16% and Health Bonus 20%, exactly double each one star value.

Is the 16% cooldown reduction meaningful?

The official sub-stats page strongly recommends carrying at least one cooldown line and notes late gear rolls up to 24% on a single piece, so 16% from a race slot is a substantial free head start.
