What this page helps you decide: which level you actually need before attempting the next world or difficulty, and whether to spend your next hour levelling, forging or blessing.

Progression in Iron Soul: Dungeon is a sequence of level gates with a forge cadence attached to each one, and almost all of it is published. The official wiki divides the main worlds into tiers: Starless Forest is Tier 1, Frozen Valley is the long Tier 2 mid-game, Oathlost Castle is Tier 3 and the endgame, and the Tier 4 world is still listed as to be announced. Each world carries the same five difficulties with their own recommended levels. This page collects every published threshold in one table, marks which of them come from the official wiki and which only from third-party sites, and explains the forge and blessing rhythm the official guides recommend between them. The one thing it will not give you is a power target, and the reason for that is the most useful thing on the page.

The forge order the official guide recommends for Tier 2

Frozen Valley has a published forging sequence rather than a best item, and it alternates between a light weapon and a secondary. In order: pure verdanite light weapon, then any ratio of hexbane with bloodshard as a secondary, then a pure painstone light weapon, then sunflare with flourite at one to two as a secondary, then pure torbernite as a light weapon, then voidstar with earthmaw at one to two. For a heavy chest piece the order is hexbane with bloodshard at any ratio, sunflare with flourite at one to one, then voidstar with earthmaw at one to two. Two disciplines come with it: do not bless a weapon past +3 until the last two ore options, and expect diminishing returns from blessing armour.

The level cap moved, and old guides did not

Season III raised the maximum character level to 110, and three separate guide sites agree on that number. One older site still lists a maximum of 70 and dates itself to June 2026, when Season 2 was current; the same page claims more than 26 playable races against the official template's 13, so it is a stale snapshot rather than a disagreement. The highest-level ore in the official table is Lionite at level 90, which is not a contradiction: ore levels simply stop at 90 while characters continue to 110. If you find a guide quoting a cap of 70, check its date before you plan around it.

What is not published about progression

Three things. There is no published drop table for any difficulty of any world, which all three third-party sites state in writing. There is no official power recommendation for any map, by choice rather than omission. And Tier 4 has a name-shaped hole in it: the official progression guide lists the fourth tier world as to be announced with a date of 17 July 2026 attached, and that page has not been edited since 19 July 2026, so whatever was intended there never arrived on the wiki. Anything you read about a fourth world today is inference from update notes rather than a published tier.

Step-by-Step

  1. Treat character level as the gate and battle power as a symptom. Skills and gear in this game are level-locked, and the official progression guide describes battle power as an arbitrary number that averages a character and overshoots badly on some equipment.
  2. Clear Starless Forest Trial twice at level 0, then step up one difficulty at a time as you hit 5, 10, 12 and 15. Bank your first mythic ore at Penitent, and use Inferno as your sub-stat farm because magnetite is very common there.
  3. Do not enter Frozen Valley before level 15, 1,200 maximum health and a pure painstone light weapon. Budget roughly eight hours for the stretch that follows, and expect boss fights to run up to six minutes if your damage is short.
  4. In Frozen Valley, forge a run of light helmets from the easiest mythic ore you can farm until one rolls Attack Bonus together with Skill Damage. The official guide calls that the starter hat and treats it as the thing that accelerates the tier.
  5. Reach level 28 to unlock the teleport to Shattered Place, which is the entry to the New Island route, the Scythe forge at Shattered Land and Tartarus.
  6. For Oathlost Castle, third-party sites report a 28,000 battle power gate checked at the Castle Trial. The official wiki does not carry that figure and marks its own Tier 3 section as work in progress, so treat it as a reported checkpoint.
  7. Re-forge when you stall rather than grinding through it. The official position is that gear carries real randomness, that re-forging is most common late, and that armour alone becomes a large damage contributor in the endgame.

Tips & Notes

  • Levelling in Torment is a trap. The official guide says the runs are long enough that experience per hour is poor, so use it for painstone attempts rather than for levels.
  • Hold mythic and legendary ore rather than spending it the moment it drops. A light helmet with four sub-stats can carry an entire tier, and mythic quality requires at least half the ore in the forge to be mythic.
  • Cooldown Reduction is the one sub-stat the official guidance says to always carry at least one of, and endgame gear can roll up to 24% on a single item.

FAQ

What is the max level in Iron Soul: Dungeon?

110 during Season III, raised from the Season 2 cap. Three guide sites updated in August 2026 agree. An older site still lists 70, but it dates itself to June 2026 and also gets the race count wrong by a factor of two.

How much power do I need for Oathlost Castle?

Three third-party sites report 28,000 battle power, checked at the Castle Trial. The official wiki gives no power figure for any map and argues that level is the better guide, and its own Tier 3 section is marked work in progress.

How long does Frozen Valley take?

The official guide estimates approximately up to eight hours for the tier, and frames the goal as building a character that can enter Oathlost Castle rather than simply clearing the maps.

Tier 1
Starless Forest
Tier 2
Frozen Valley, about 8 hours
Tier 3
